Closing of the Bones Ceremony in Seattle & Renton, Washington
Honoring Your Postpartum Healing & Rebirth into Motherhood
This ceremony is available weeks, months, or even years after birth. It’s never too late.
A Closing of the Bones Ceremony is a sacred postpartum healing ritual that honors and acknowledges the profound journey of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. Most commonly associated with traditional Mexican midwifery and rebozo practices, similar postpartum healing and wrapping ceremonies have also existed across many cultures throughout history as women were traditionally cared for and supported after birth.
The ceremony is often described as helping to “close the portal” that was opened physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually during pregnancy and birth. It offers space to slow down, be nurtured, and gently transition from your maiden self into this new version of yourself as a mother. The ceremony honors the woman you were before birth while also embracing and welcoming the person you are becoming.
Through warmth, intentional rest, bodywork, rebozo wrapping, meditation, herbs, and grounding practices, many women experience a deep sense of healing, reconnection, release, and renewal.
✨ Closing Ceremony Package — $400 ✨ (2-3 hours approx.)
Each experience is thoughtfully created and curated specifically for the individual, allowing space for personalized support, healing, intention, and care based on your unique postpartum journey and needs.
Your ceremony may include:
• Clearing & Preparing the Space
We begin by creating a calm, grounding environment using candles, herbs, gentle music, breathwork, or smoke cleansing to invite warmth, safety, peace, and intention into the space.
• Setting Intentions
Together we take time to slow down and reflect on your postpartum journey, your healing, and what you hope to release, reclaim, or step into during this season of motherhood.
• Honoring Your Birth Story
You are invited to share and process your birth experience in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. This portion of the ceremony acknowledges the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual transformation birth can bring.
• Emotional Support & Postpartum Processing
We gently explore emotions, thoughts, transitions, or experiences that may be arising during postpartum. This can include feelings surrounding identity changes, anxiety, overwhelm, grief, empowerment, softness, joy, or healing.
• Gentle Bodywork & Nervous System Support
Soft touch, grounding techniques, massage-inspired support, and nurturing care may be used to help encourage relaxation, circulation, and reconnection with the body.
• Rebozo Wrapping (Closing of the Bones)
Using traditional woven shawls called rebozos, the body is gently wrapped and held at different points of the body. Many women describe this experience as deeply comforting, grounding, supportive, and emotionally releasing.
• Reiki & Energy Healing
Energy work may be incorporated to encourage balance, grounding, emotional release, and energetic restoration during the postpartum period.
• Sound Healing & Guided Relaxation
Soft instruments, calming frequencies, meditation, or guided breathing may be used to encourage deep rest, nervous system regulation, and emotional integration.
• Herbs, Warm Teas & Nourishment
Warm herbal teas, nourishing support, and grounding herbs may be incorporated throughout the ceremony to encourage warmth, comfort, restoration, and gentle postpartum care.
• Closing Prayer & Blessing
The ceremony closes with grounding, reflection, prayer, blessing, or quiet intention-setting to honor your healing journey and welcome this new chapter of motherhood.
🤍This ceremony typically takes place in your home, if the space permits, creating a comfortable and familiar environment for healing and rest. One to two close family members or friends are welcome to join and help support and honor you during the ceremony.
